March has gone by quickly and we have begun to see the transition from cooler weather to the beginning of a Florida summer. You can see by this photo that we had some cooler days this month, at times dipping down into the 50s during the day, but we are now up into the 80s fairly consistently.
Last year we spent quite a few weekends racing R/C cars in the cul-de-sac, so I decided to add another car to our collection. I found a deal on a slightly used car on Craigslist from a guy in Kissimmee (the car of the far left). The center car is one that I bought over 20 years ago when I was stationed in Scotland in the Marines. I've replaced several parts, but it's still going strong. The smallest car is one of the cheapo cars you find at Target, but it's actually quite fun to drive, except when the wheels fall off!
We dressed up in our Easter Sunday colors and had someone take our picture on the church lawn. The Easter service was a mix of drama, teaching by Pastor Paul, and music performed by a local band called Shades of Green. The band is made up of two sisters and a brother, accompanied by a guitarist and bassist. They were quite good.
Yesterday I took the day off so we could use a certificate we had for a boat tour at New Smyrna Beach. I've included a few photos of our trip. New Smyrna is just under an hour and a half drive from our home, so it's an easy trip whenever we want to do something near the coast.
We saw several dolphins during the boat ride, including a mommy and baby dolphin swimming side-by-side. The captain told us that the dolphins are often playful, swimming alongside the boat and sometimes even jumping out of the water. Unfortunately, our dolphins must have been too tired to play.Thursday evening, we had Matt and his friend Ashley over for dinner. Kim took a photo of them with the kids.
So, I admit that it's not exactly March Madness, but we had a lot of fun. I did leave out details on a few interesting events this month, like Elizabeth passing out after she cut into her gums following tooth extraction surgery. Unfortunately, I did not get a photo of the six firemen and paramedics that showed up when Kim called 911, but it's probably just as well.Peace and Blessings,
John
